Although we'd been told that driving in Poland
could be hazardous, we really enjoyed it. True, you do not want to leave
your car unattended to long or you may not have a car, as car theft is rampant.
Even the local people we met, the Jarczak family of Karnitz would pull their own auto into the driveway and then lock the gate behind them. Some of the roads, as evidenced by this picture, offered some very scenic beauty. I would admit that the auto we rented in Berlin probably wasn't in as good as condition when we rented as when we returned it. I was stopped by the Polish Police, for passing on a curve, a legitimate stop in anyone's book. They asked me if I had Polish Zlotys. I told them no, but I do have American dollars. I guess they didn't want to be tracked down with USD in their pocket so they told me to move on. |
