Heuers in Hoff 1806 -
1874 --- Film # 1273098 Before reading this
time line, one must remember that Christoph Heuer, (1760 -1814) son of Martin
Heuer, the master tailor from Neides, had a family of 10 children. Two
of them died as infants, and one at age 6. Christoph, granduncle, of
Johann Friedrich and Carl Gottlieb had 5 sons. Not all of them lived in
Hoff, but many of them did. Carl Gottlieb, Johann Friedrich's brother,
also lived in the Hoff church area after his marriage in Pustchow.
Sorting out this mess of Heuer's was a real challenge. Confirmation
dates were not clearly defined, nor were parents listed in the earlier
records. |

In 1997 we visited the Hof area and
took this picture of a church that more than likely was the church where
these records originated.
This church was destroyed during WWII and never refurbished or repaired as the damage was quite extensive. As in most cases, the church towers were destroyed as they provided a vantage point to see the oncoming enemy. More than likely, the Russian Forces destroyed this church as they approached from the West to expel the German Forces. |
